Don't use the fireplace
Water ponding on roof at chimney and siding, a little moss, some rust, and roofing mastic. So that's where the water was coming in.
Not only did the HVAC contractor cut a roof rafter and ceiling joist but then he failed to properly fasten the furnace vent pipe sections together.
